Sunday in My City

This weekend the weather has been so perfect, we decided to explore some of the parks around here to see what each one has to offer.  There are so many parks that I think it would take us a year to visit them all.  Here are a few shots of what we found while we were out exploring.

I'm still getting used to the idea of there not being trees everywhere.  A walk in the park in Virginia is very much going into a forest.  It's a welcoming, comforting environment I miss.  The open grasslands are beautiful, but to me still unsettling.

We found a new playground that's almost in walking distance of our house.  It's a long walk for little feet, so we drove there yesterday.

  1. I can relate to not having tall trees around where you live. For most of my life, I lived in Tennessee, around the Smoky Mountains. Then my family moved to Florida. It was so incredibly FLAT. But I have learned to appreciate its beauty too.

    You landscapes are beautiful.

  2. Hi Tara, I've seen the Smoky Mountains. They are so incredibly beautiful. Florida does have it's beauty too. I have family and friends there, so I get there as often as I can.

  5. Wow - the openness is beautiful! And the green!?! We recently relocated from Colorado (Rocky Mountains!) to central Iowa (ummm, flat!?!?!) it has been fun & interesting to discover new places!

  6. Lovely shots.

I have mountains all around me and I couldn't live without them - but flat land means big, open sky and there is something wonderful about that too.

  8. The shots are lovely.

When I went to Arizona I felt very out of sorts because I missed trees and hills and mountains. I felt so out of my element.

However, not having trees is a hard thing to get use to!

  11. I miss mountains a lot, but at least we have a ton of trees in St. Louis. I can't imagine flat land and no trees. But like you said, it is very beautiful in its own right.

  12. Beautiful shots! We don't have trees here in SoCal the way we did when I grew up in MN, so I can really relate.
